We went into our 4 month ultrasound appointment excited to find out if our first baby would be a boy or a girl. Soon after hearing “Congratulations! You’re having a boy!” the tone in the room changed and the tech asked us to wait to speak to the doctor. It was then we were asked, “Have you heard of spina bifida?” We both looked at the doctor and said “No.” After going over all the options, we decided to carry our baby full term and were ready for anything that came our way.
Amir Marvelous Jackson was born at 10:45 am on September 7th 2017, his dad’s birthday. Immediately after his birth, Amir was rushed straight to surgery and transferred to Dell Children’s Medical Center. While Marvin was able to go with Amir, it would be 3 days before I was able to see and touch my baby boy. Amir spent a month and a half in the NICU and had four surgeries during that time. It was in the NICU that the we learned about March of Dimes and discovered a place to share our story and find support with other parents.
Amir is now five years old, attends school and loves Mickey Mouse. He is loved and supported by so many and we are pretty sure that Amir Marvelous Jackson’s smile will melt your heart too.
?Our team, The Marvelous Amir is part of the movement to create positive change for moms and babies everywhere, especially those most at risk.
With preterm birth and maternal death rates continuing to rise, we’re committed to raising funds so that every family gets the best possible start. And you can help us.

With preterm birth rates continuing to rise, the U.S. remains among the most dangerous developed nations for childbirth, especially for women and babies of color.
At March for Babies™ you're lifting up communities, creating connections and taking action to make America a more equitable place and ensure that every mom and baby is healthy.
Together, we’re marching to raise funds and awareness to transform the health of all families!
