As additional cases of COVID-19 (Coronavirus) are reported in the U.S., you may be wondering what the spread of this virus means for the March of Dimes community and the upcoming March for Babies event this year.  

March of Dimes top priority is the health and wellness of every family. 

Towards that end they are working closely with local, state and federal health officials on an ongoing basis to monitor the COVID-19 threat. They recognize the significant public health crisis we are all facing as a result of COVID-19 so this has led the organization to decide to conduct a virtual March for Babies this year.  

I will still be participating this year and plan to celebrate March for Babies; however, the event will go virtual. I'm excited about the forthcoming plans and the new opportunities that will allow me to continue to fight for the health of all moms and babies by coming together virtually with other communities to celebrate those efforts. 

With nearly 4 million babies born each year, we have a lot of work to do to help them all. The funds I raise enable March of Dimes to support research, lead programs and provide education and advocacy that truly makes a difference to families in our community and across the country. P.S. As the public grapples with the effects of COVID-19, the new coronavirus disease, we are concerned about pregnant women and babies who may be at a greater risk of becoming sick and not receiving the care they need. March of Dimes established the Mom and Baby COVID-19 Intervention and Support Fund to address the urgent need for research, advocacy and education to protect moms, babies and families from COVID-19 and the unknown future effects of the virus.
