Our family has been touched three times by premature birth. We lost our first son, Hudson Muir, following his extremely premature birth. He was born on February 9, 2016 at just 25 weeks gestational age and 1 lb 1 oz and passed away two days later. We miss him, but we honor his memory every day and are grateful for the immeasurable impact he has had on our lives. Our second son, Hunter James, was born prematurely on November 17, 2016 at 30 weeks gestational age, weighing 3 lbs 3 ozs, and spent 8 weeks in the NICU. We are happy to say that Hunter is a healthy kiddo, in part due to the important research funded by the March of Dimes. Almost four years ago, we were fortunate enough to add another son, Cole, to our family via a gestational carrier. Hunter and Cole bring us such incredible joy, and we know that their big brother, Hudson, will always watch over them.
Most recently, our nephew, Jesse Ross Silbert, was born at just 26 weeks gestational age weighing 1lb 5 oz. After 291 days in the hospital, Jesse is now at home where he belongs. Jesse has Chronic Lung Disease and is supported by a ventilator, trach, and gtube. He is a true fighter, just like his parents - the bravest, strongest, smiliest little boy, who continues to amaze us all every day. We look forward to the day when Jesse is breathing on his own and roughhousing with his cousins!
For the past seven years we've walked in March for Babies and have raised approximately $140,000 for March of Dimes. Premature birth affects 1 in 10 babies born in this country and is the leading cause of infant mortality. With preterm birth and maternal death rates continuing to rise, we’re committed to raising funds so that every family gets the best possible start. And you can help us.
With preterm birth rates continuing to rise, the U.S. remains among the most dangerous developed nations for childbirth, especially for women and babies of color.
At March for Babies: A Mother of a Movement™ you're lifting up communities, creating connections and taking action to make America a more equitable place and ensure that every mom and baby is healthy.
Together, we’re marching to raise funds and awareness to transform the health of all families!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
