Our son, Landon Vianni Armata came into this world a bit early on December 1, 2016 at 11:05am weighing in at 5 lb 13 oz and 19 inches long. Landon had premature lungs and respiratory distress syndrome and was rushed immediately from the delivery room to the NICU. The Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center NICU is without a doubt a world class special place. The quick actions and professionalism of the entire department, along with outstanding medical specialist from Children’s Hospital Boston is something no parent ever dreams would be needed, but we could not imagine if they were not there.
We will never forget seeing our son in such an innocent and vulnerable position. We would only wish that not another parent ever has to see their baby on a ventilator not able to breath on his own with all those wires, tubes and monitors. We are truly thankful that Landon will not remember those times. This was a life altering situation for our family and we will forever be grateful.
Today, Landon is an amazing two year old with bright blue eyes and golden blonde curls! He loves to go out on daily adventures and nap time cuddles with Mama. Loves running around playing soccer with his Dada! His best friend is his older brother, Justin. He is passionate about swimming, construction trucks, and horses! His favorite foods are broccoli and raspberries.
The support that the March of Dimes gives to NICUs and Families is amazing and touched our family and that is why we participate to help families experience the joy of a healthy baby. With nearly 4 million babies born each year, we have a lot of work to do to help them all. The funds we raise enable March of Dimes to support research, lead programs and provide education and advocacy that truly makes a difference to families in our community and across the country. If you believe, like we do, that every baby deserves the best possible start, please march with me or make a donation to support this community effort. Together we can fight for the health of all families and babies.
