This change in format aligns with the newly released CDC guidance for large events, to help ensure the safety and health of our participants. More details on our new format to come soon!

Ambassador Family

Meet the Keefer Family

The Keefer family is honored to represent March of Dimes as the 2024 March for Babies Ambassador Family! When Megan and Chris found out they were pregnant with their second baby, Eloise, they were overjoyed, as was their son, Oliver. Eloise kept them on their toes throughout the pregnancy, receiving a diagnosis of Translocation Down Syndrome at her 20 week scan. Eloise continued to grow, but her real challenges came with delivery. Eloise was quickly transported to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital after being born just short of 36 weeks. The Keefer family went through a medical journey they never thought they would experience, learning the in's and out's of the NICU and a medically complex baby. While at Cardinal Glennon, the Keefer's recieved amazing care from their team and support from March of Dimes' NICU Family Support. A memory they will never forget, is when their 9 year old son, Oliver, won the Reading Challenge in the NICU. Oliver was dedicated to reading to his baby sister and felt supported by the NICU Family Support Specialist. After 131 long days in the NICU, Eloise was able to join her big brother and parents at home. Eloise's mom, Megan, says, "Eloise continues to have the odds working against her. She has a level 3 HIE, brain malformations which can cause seizures, cerebral palsy because of her brain injury, and hearing loss, but most importantly, yet despite all of these challenges, she has a fighting spirit. Eloise is a true warrior. We will always be grateful for the doctors, nurses, support staff and agency representatives, especially those associated with the March of Dimes for their constant support and encouragement when it was difficult to see the good. Our family - especially Eloise - is honored to have this opportunity to share her story and to provide hope to those who face adversity." Join the Keefer Family at our 2024 March for Babies!
