ABOUT MARCH FOR BABIES

Join the movement!

March for Babies is a campaign to rally millions of Americans in the collective effort to transform the health of all families.

It is more than a march, it’s America’s larger call to action to ensure that all families get the healthy start they deserve!

You’re lifting up communities for health equity, opening the door for all moms to have access to care and protecting the health of families by pushing for their rights.

You’re taking action for all families throughout their pregnancy journey by raising critical funds to help March of Dimes continue research, programs, support and advocacy so families get the best possible start.

Jensens Journey

“There is a zero percent chance that he will live outside the womb.” After a very difficult pregnancy journey, these were the words that we were told three days before Jensen Richard Lance Blanks made his grand entrance into the world on November 10th, 2019. At 29 weeks and weighing 1 pound 12 ounces, Jensen shocked everyone involved by breathing his way into our lives. For three months, he received amazing care from our wonderful Community Regional Medical Center family in Fresno, California. After a while, Jensen began to struggle medically and it was determined that he needed more specialized care. On Valentine’s Day 2020, Jensen took his first helicopter ride to UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital in Mission Bay. After what we believed was to be a little over a week stay, we received the difficult news that Jensen had severe Pulmonary Hypertension and would need to stay long term for more aggressive treatment. Our stay extended past one year and in that time Jensen coded and was resuscitated a number of times, received several blood transfusions, a tracheostomy, a g-tube, life saving medications, and all of the expertise and love that the UCSF NICU and PICU had to offer. We were blessed with an incredible medical family and we are grateful that our lives are still connected today. On February 23rd, 2021 we were so thankful that our journey took us home as a family for the first time. Because of the incredible care Jensen received and the ongoing research behind his life saving treatment plan, he is now a thriving four year old who loves superheroes, attends preschool, and plays on soccer and t-ball teams. Our family mantra has always been and continues to be “God through Jensen will show us the way with an assist from science.”
