Morgan and Moses Gordon gave birth to their daughter Maddie Gordon in May 2018, 24 weeks before Morgan’s due date. The Morgan Family has been selected as the 2020 March for Babies New Orleans Ambassador Family.
On August 6, 2018, after 92 days in the NICU, Madison was finally ready to come home weighing 5lbs 1oz. The Morgan family describes their time in the NICU as “truly a test of our faith and without a shadow of a doubt we were able to watch a miracle unfold. The Morgan family is grateful for the March of Dimes, which provides research, programs and advocates for the lives of premature babies like Maddie, and our family is committed to raising awareness around the prevention of premature births. The March of Dimes will forever be near and dear to our hearts, and we are so honored to be this year’s Ambassador Family for the city of New Orleans”
“Serving as the ambassador family is a way for us to show our gratitude for March of Dimes and the programs they fund that helped our daughter,” says Morgan and Pastor Moses. “It’s not fine that each year thousands of moms and babies deal with complications from pregnancy and premature birth. But together we can do something about it. That’s why we March for Babies.”
“By participating in March for Babies, you’re raising critical funds to help tackle the biggest health threats to moms and babies, such as those the Gordon family experienced. “We’re excited to have Thomas Harris, VP of Pediatrics at Ochsner Hospital for Children on board to serve as our local March for Babies chair,” says Morgan.
Two babies die every hour in the U.S. and a woman dies every 12 hours as a result of complications from pregnancy. African American women are four times more likely to die as a result of giving birth or birth complications. That’s why we March for Babies.
The Gordon Family is asking local businesses and community leaders to join them to support March for Babies. “The number of babies born prematurely here in Louisiana and nationwide is just not acceptable,” They said. “We’re marching to help March of Dimes support lifesaving research, programs and advocacy so that all moms and babies can be healthy.”
