Our March for Babies celebration is still on, but it looks a little different! We are rapidly preparing for a new, virtualized event that will be fun and engaging for everyone. This change in format aligns with the newly released CDC guidance for large events, to help ensure the safety and health of our participants. More details on our new format to come soon!

ABOUT MARCH FOR BABIES
On April 29, 2017 March of Dimes supporters will gather on the campus of UNCG in Greensboro to walk for stronger, healthier babies and mothers across the nation. Walkers from Guilford, Randolph and Alamance counties will join us to raise funds and awareness to make the mission of the March of Dimes possible. Step by step, cent by cent, the money raised will go toward groundbreaking preventative research that will keep mom, baby, and family together and healthy, on both a local and global scale. Early bird parking available in the Walker deck at 506 Stirling St. (across from Kaplan Commons Lawn) prior to 9:00 a.m., Parking after 9:00 a.m. will be available in the Oakland deck off Forest St. Call or email Jamie Southern [email protected] or 336-231-3765. Event T-shirts are available for individual fundraising of $100! Raise $1000 and you will be a Champion for Babies and receive a special hat.

2017 National Ambassador Ismael Torres Castrodad

The Johnson Family- Kenneth, Regina and Sarah In what seemed like being transformed into a movie scene, everything started to move rapidly. The doctors could not hear Sarah in the womb and my wife, Regina, was in heavy convulsions due to complications from a severe form of pre-eclampsia. I felt helpless as I waited in the small waiting room. One hour later (but it felt like an eternity) I was relieved to find out that my wife and daughter were ok. Sarah had been delivered by emergency C-section and taken to the NICU. Our daughter entered this world under less than ideal circumstances; developing a category four brain hemorrhage from the traumatic birth. Later she struggled with vision complications and mild Cerebral Palsy. Sarah’s premature birth could not hold her back. She is now 5 years old and has a spirit that wills her to achieve and push herself past any limitations she may have been born with. My wife Regina and I are thankful that today she is a healthy Kindergartner. Our goal is to help others know they are not alone in the fight against premature birth. Together, we can be a force for change.
