I graduated from UAB School of Nursing in August of 2017 and have been working at UAB Hospital's Continuing Care Nursey for the past 8 years. The Continuing Care Nursery cares for intermediate and convalescent neonates, ranging in gestational age from 24 weeks to full term, that no longer need ventilator assistance. These infants are considered very fragile, weighing in the range of 1 -13 lbs.
I love my job more than words can describe. I have seen first-hand what March of Dimes can do to make an everlasting impact on these babies and mother's lives. I am honored to care for premature babies every day and show God's love to them and the families. I help them in any way I can, no matter if it is physical needs or extra prayers- our nurses do everything we can to make the experience better. The smile a new mother has when we offer to take the baby out of the isolette for her to hold for the first time is priceless. For those who are reading this and have not experienced anything in relation to a sick or premature baby I ask you to take the time and read further about what March of Dimes does with the money they raise and look at the stories of the mothers that have experienced this first hand.
I participate to help all moms and families experience the joy of a healthy baby. With nearly 4 million babies born each year, we have a lot of work to do to help them all. The funds I raise enable March of Dimes to support research, lead programs and provide education and advocacy that truly makes a difference to families in our community and across the country. If you believe, like I do, that every baby deserves the best possible start, please march with me or make a donation to support this community effort. Together we can fight for the health of all moms and babies.
Since I started walking with the March of Dimes in 2018, I have had a two of my own babies and have a new perspective of what the mothers go experience throughout pregnancy and postpartum. Although my child did not go to the NICU I see our mothers with a new light knowing how deep of a connection you have with your own child.
With preterm birth rates continuing to rise, the U.S. remains among the most dangerous developed nations for childbirth, especially for women and babies of color.
At March for Babies™ you're lifting up communities, creating connections and taking action to make America a more equitable place and ensure that every mom and baby is healthy.
Together, we’re marching to raise funds and awareness to transform the health of all families!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
