On January 15th, 2017 my nephew Brady John Schmitz was born at 26 weeks, weighing only 17 ounces (yes, that's correct- just a bit over one pound). Seeing someone that tiny but still full of life was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. Even though he was very small, he was so strong and off to a great start- & not to mention so adorable! I was one proud Auntie and I loved visiting him, even though I wasn't allowed to touch him.
On Saturday, January 28th, things worsened quickly. He got an infection and passed away during the early hours of the next day. When babies are born prematurely, their immune systems are often not fully developed so infections can be very serious- and fatal in Brady's case.
Right now, babies need all the help they can get. Premature birth affects about 380,000 babies here in the United States. I’m walking in March for Babies in memory of my nephew and to raise awareness and you can help. Please make a secure donation to help me reach my goal. Together we can help the March of Dimes fight prematurity so more babies can get the strongest start possible and hopefully avoid heartbreaking outcomes like Brady's.
Every dollar counts & the babies, families, and I appreciate your generosity.
Thank you,
Christina Tidrick
With preterm birth rates continuing to rise, the U.S. remains among the most dangerous developed nations for childbirth, especially for women and babies of color.
At March for Babies™ you're lifting up communities, creating connections and taking action to make America a more equitable place and ensure that every mom and baby is healthy.
Together, we’re marching to raise funds and awareness to transform the health of all families!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
