💜I'm Erin Lambe from San Diego California, and I’ve been participating in March for Babies since 2019. My first baby Logan was delivered 6weeks early due to a high-risk condition called Vasa Previa, and he spent 36days in the NICU on oxygen support. I have been a Pediatric Physical Therapist for over 10years, so I often work with preemies and NICU graduates, but I never truly appreciated the enormity of what it means to birth a baby too early and watch them fight to survive until it happened to my own baby and me.
💜The United States is the only industrialized country with a rising maternal mortality rate and 1 in 10 babies in the US are born premature. Clear racial and economic disparities result in even greater risk to babies and birthers of color. Many of the causes of preterm birth are preventable, and March of Dimes’s annual event, March for Babies, strives to educate, advocate, and raise funds with the goal of preventing unnecessary preterm births.
💜My preemie baby Logan is now 4years old, and he is strong and healthy and happy-- thanks in part to all the support and advocacy of March of Dimes. My parents actually even first met 40years ago at a March of Dimes walk in Southern California, so without these events my son and I might not even be here right now! :)
💜Please help us spread the word by sharing your story and joining our team Little Wing San Diego or creating a team of your own at marchforbabies.org/.
With preterm birth rates continuing to rise, the U.S. remains among the most dangerous developed nations for childbirth, especially for women and babies of color.
At March for Babies: A Mother of a Movement™ you're lifting up communities, creating connections and taking action to make America a more equitable place and ensure that every mom and baby is healthy.
Together, we’re marching to raise funds and awareness to transform the health of all families!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
