Ana and Mia Dellinger 2017 Ambassadors

Why we walk- We walk to Celebrate Mia and Ana. After almost 42 days of hospital bedrest we welcomed our sweet girls who were born 8 weeks early. On August 7, 2012, Mia and Ana were born at 3:15 am and 3:16 am. Weighing 3 lbs., 13 oz. and 4 lbs., 9 oz., we were unsure of what the future would hold. We learned very quickly that things change every minute with preemies and no two babies are alike. March of Dimes provided us with education to help us care for our girls and information to share with our families. After 40 days in the NICU our babies were discharged home. We are so thankful for all the medical advance like surfactant therapy developed by funding from the March of Dimes that were given to the girls. Both girls are high-energy, fun loving, smart and sweet and have no lasting consequence of being premature. Our story has a wonderful ending, but many of the 1 in 10 babies born prematurely in the United States do not. March for Babies is our biggest weapon in the fight against premature birth, raising funds to help more moms have healthy, full-term babies as well as research to find why it occurs and preventions to keep it from happening.
